The Amesbury U8Bs travelled a fair distance to take on Belmont U8Bs. The weather was glorious however due to a tight fixture schedule, the Bs played their match indoors. In the searing heat, this was a relief!

Amesbury batted first and made a very respectable 146 for the loss of only 3 wickets. The Belmont bowling attack was strong and their fielding was tight as well.

Going out to bowl, Amesbury were confident they would be able to defend their total. Belmont sent some big hitters in for their first pair and soon racked up the runs. However when the second pair came into bat, the Amesbury bowlers had found their line. The runs dried up and after some superb work in the field, a run out saw the fall of the first Belmont wicket. The bowling remained accurate and controlled for the remainder of the game with Belmont having to fight hard to score past some excellent fielding from the whole Amesbury team.

The final score for Belmont was 148 meaning they had won by only 2 runs. An extremely close game and a thriller to watch, every Amesbury player should be proud to have been part of it.
