U8B Cricket v Aldro: 11 May
As the U8B team wandered out towards the pitch for their game against Aldro the heavens opened and there was a moment went it appeared that the match would be called off. Fortuitously, the sun started to shine and the match proceeded uninterrupted. Amesbury fielded first and some fantastic bowling, alongside some enthusiastic fielding, limited the opposition to 239 runs.
In reply, Amesbury started batting strongly and raced towards the total. Some effective bowling by the opposition saw the run rate decrease. As the match went into the final overs there was still all to play for. The final over dawned with Amesbury needing just seven runs to win, with three runs to win off the final ball, a lusty blow saw the ball race over the boundary. Resulting in an Amesbury win by a single run.
Lots of enthusiasm was shown by the team, with everyone appearing to enjoy themselves immensely.
