U11A Rounders v Edgeborough: 3 May

Won 15 1/2 – 8 1/2   Batter of the match: Daisy Fielder of the match: Lara

Another superb match today for the U11A’s.  The girls started their game in the favourable position of fielding.  They wasted no time in getting 4 Edgeborough players out.  Libby made an outstanding catch in the Deep, while Hannah at Backstop made some lovely passes to Lara at 1st post, to get 3 players out in quick succession.  Olivia played a lovely, steady game as Bowler, bowling no ‘no-balls’ the entire innings.  Libby and Gracie once again made a strong partnership at Near Deep, and were both supported brilliantly by Daisy at 2nd Deep.  A very strong innings was secured and a disappointed Edgeborough left the field having only scored 2 1/2 rounders.

As we went into bat, the cold seemed to have affected the girls’ connection skills. Very few rounders were scored initially, however, thankfully they mostly managed to stay in.  After warming themselves up, we saw some outstanding rounders scored from Daisy and Bo, with some lovely half rounders from Lara and Olivia.  The girls also learnt a valuable lesson after some silly post-running from Hannah and Olivia saw them out early on.

The second innings saw Edgeborough find their feet and we had to work harder to control the game.  Nevertheless, the girls rose to the challenge.  Edgeborough girls were dismissed promptly and we managed to retain our lead.

Well done girls on a great final score of 15 1/2 – 8 1/2.
