U10A Rounders v Ditcham Park: 10 May

Won 16 ½ – 8

Lady of the match: Charlotte

The sun has now arrived for the rounders season! What a glorious afternoon for the U10A team over at Ditcham Park.  Amesbury started by fielding first giving them the upper hand of seeing how many rounders they were up against for when they came to bat.  Very early on in the match Katie had a brilliant catch which straight away had the team all fired up and motivated to win.  The girls played well with great communication and lots of backing each other up.  Jazzy bowled with power and speed, making it hard for the opposition to hit the ball.  Ruby and Lyla played with enthusiasm on their posts, watching and ready waiting in case the ball came their way.  When it came to Amesbury batting, Jazzy, Katie and Laura had brilliant hits and managed to score a rounder each.  This was a great start for the girls.  Charlotte, Emily, Lyla, Ruby and Lucy all went on to score half rounders in the first innings.  They all watched the ball well and worked hard to score the half rounders.

In the second innings and a quick shuffle of positions for Amesbury, the girls really tightened up their fielding and worked brilliantly as a team.  Lucy stumped out two players at first post.  Lyla stumped a player out at 3rd post and Jazzy made a super catch.

In to bat for the second time and the girls certainly did not disappoint.  They were consistently hitting the ball with power, followed by sprinting round the posts.  Every single member of the team scored at least half a rounder.  Jazzy, Emily and Charlotte had some beautiful hits outside the diamond.  Rounders were scored by Jazzy, Katie, Emily, Lissie and Lucy.

Although we were a stronger team, Ditcham Park continued to play with motivation and commitment.  A great match played by both teams.  Well done.
