U9A Rounders vs Ripley Court
Won 14.5-12.5
Batter: Chloe
Fielder:Yssy
On a soggy afternoon, the rain just about held off to allow the full match to be played. Amesbury batted first but struggled to hit the ball due to some good bowling. As the innings progressed, the girls made more contact with the ball and started to score some rounders. Score after 1st innings: 6.5.
The girls fielded with confidence, restricting Ripley Court to half rounders. Some particularly good deep fielding meant that several rounders were prevented. Excellent communication meant that Amesbury went into the second innings with a lead of 1.5 rounders.
In the half time team talk we decided that the key to winning the game was to make more contact with the ball and to try and place our hits. The girls responded brilliantly and scored 8 rounders in their second innings leaving their final score at 14.5 rounders.
Fielding became much harder in the second innings due to the rain starting to come down more heavily. A wet ball is difficult to catch and throw! Despite this, the girls were determined to win, and despite some great basting from Ripley Court, managed to get the whole team out with 4 balls to spare.
The final score stood at 14.5-12.5 to Amesbury. Well done girls!
