Thankfully the rain had ceased for the start of the 3rd XI fixture against Highfield. Strong gusts of wind were still apparent which made bowling a little tricky on occasions. The Amesbury bowlers soon found their line however, having put Highfield into bat and there were some flashes of brilliance in the field. The outfield was fast and so there were a few balls that just ran away from the pursuing fielder and these boundaries helped Highfield to a final score of 118 for 5 off their 15 overs.

Amesbury went into bat confident that they could chase down the Highfield total. They got off to a fantastic start with some great shots and a steady flow of boundaries. Unfortunately a few quick wickets slowed the run rate right down and Amesbury were unable to recover and regain the momentum they had begun with. Amesbury finished on 82 for 6 from their 15 overs. An admirable effort and one that provided a fantastic game of cricket to watch.
