2nd XI v Hoe Bridge: 3 May

2nd XI Cricket v Hoe Bridge 3.5.2017 Home Won by 49 runs

Amesbury 129/3 in 25 overs

Hoe Bridge 80

Another impressive performance saw Amesbury face some genuinely quick bowling but compile a competitive total which was then defended with some excellent bowling and catching. All five batsmen reached double figures and there was a particularly useful opening stand of 46, as well as an unbroken 4th wicket partnership of 60.

Amesbury’s opening bowlers both bowled good spells which went a long way to winning the match as they reduced Hoe Bridge to 43/6 off 10 overs. Two more wickets fell quickly (45/8) before the tail wagged. Mention should be made of some excellent Amesbury catches, the pick being  a horrible swirling skier pouched by the captain running back from mid-off, a catch which would have graced a considerably higher level of cricket.

Well played, everyone!

John Hamilton, Head of History
