It was a freezing Wednesday afternoon and the girls experienced all weathers at the end of April including hail, winds and sunshine! This was a new fixture and the 1st team was excited and ready to start the season on a high!
The team batted first which meant they had to go out and score as many rounders as possible and set the bar high. In their first innings they scored 14 1/2 rounders and West Hill Park scored 13 1/2, so it was all to play for in the second innings! There was some fantastic batting performances, especially from Lily and Sophie.
It was Roxy’s first match as captain and she led the team well with encouragement and a great team spirit.
In the second innings, the team hit the ball harder and made good risks getting to 2nd base for lots of half rounders, which meant West Hill Park had a total of 24 rounders to beat. The 1st team tightened up their fielding and took more of a lead to win the match.
There was a great buzz on the pitch, wonderful to play a new school and a very good performance to start off the term of rounders.
