1st XI v Edgeborough: 26 April

Tuesday 2 May 2017

164/4   drew 25-1 (match abandoned due to adverse weather)

Before the match was abandoned Amesbury had won the toss and elected to bat. We got off to a shaky start and things were not looking good at 37 for 5 in the 7th over, before Seb and Frank offered good resistance with a 41 run partnership until Frank was bowled by their opening bowler. From then onwards Seb and Fergus batted very well, with Seb being the aggressor and punishing any loose deliveries. Fergus played his role excellently, providing support for Seb and rotating the strike when needed. This partnership put on 86 runs off 71 balls to provide Amesbury with a very commanding total to defend, spear headed by an excellent 65 not out for Seb.

Amesbury took to the field full of confidence and ready to defend this total. We started very well, restricting the visitors to 25 for 1 from 8.1 overs, before the heavens opened up and provided us with some of the most bizarre weather I have ever seen in the cricket season.

Match abandoned due to hail/snow/sleet on the 26th of April…….APRIL!!!!!
