Lost 13 – 16 1/2

Fielder: Alice A
Batter: Lissie

A fantastic match today, which although saw Amesbury narrowly losing, demonstrated great determination and resilience from the Amesbury girls.
The first innings Amesbury dominated. Jazzy was great at bowler, showing real grit and energy. She made some lovely catches to dismiss a number of players, while Laura also worked well at Backstop catching out one of their stronger players. Alice was superb at second deep; she read the game intelligently and quickly retrieved the ball before sending the ball to second post for stumping. All in all a great innings.
As we went into bat, the girls did themselves proud. Fantastic hits were seen from Lissie, Jazzy and Alice A, to give us a great start on the scoresheet, while some valuable halves were scored by Laura, Anna and Katie. At half time, the score sat at 7 1/2 – 5 1/2 to us.
Unfortunately we just couldn’t retain this lead in the second half. We dropped catches and made some silly passing decisions, to let Yateley gradually pull away. When we went into bat, we also risked unwisely and thus found half of the team out with many balls remaining.
Valuable lessons learnt girls! Nevertheless, a great, close match and many positives to focus on.
Well done girls!
