For preventative measures regarding Covid-19, as of Monday 23 March 2020 Amesbury is providing Remote Teaching and Learning, until further notice. The school is only open to children of ‘key workers’, and should not be visited by anyone else during this time.
Amesbury staff and children have shown great flexibility and adapted so well to an everchanging situation. There will certainly be challenges ahead as we adapt to a different approach to school life.
Our Amesbury teachers are passionate and committed to making the experience as varied and engaging as possible. Teaching staff have spent the past few weeks ensuring that we are ready for Remote Teaching and Learning including setting our older pupils up to be confident and prepared for this. Equally, our EYFS and Pre-Prep staff have been working with Heads of Department to provide an age appropriate and inspiring approach to education for our younger pupils.
The purpose of Remote Learning for all our children is to help maintain a sense of structure to the school day and provide continuity of education during term time. We understand that children behave differently at home and only you will know how much is too much to focus on in a day.
Pastoral Care
As a school we value Pastoral Care alongside teaching and learning. Therefore, should you require any pastoral support, please do contact the pastoral team, which includes:
• Your child’s tutor
• Pastoral Head of Year (where applicable)
• Deputy Headmaster (Pastoral) Mr Armitage
We are here to support you as much as we can.
Additional Information
• Pre-Nursery and Nursery will be closed including Holiday Club from Monday 23 March until further notice
• Any external holiday clubs have been cancelled over the Easter break
· Remote learning technical support can be found within the Parent Area of our website
· We will notify parents regarding the school reopening as soon as we are able to do so
Important notice for key workers
If you are a key worker and require any additional support please contact us to let us know how we can help you by emailing l.turner@amesburyschool.co.uk
I do hope that you and your families are keeping safe and well and continue to do so. I’ve been so proud and grateful of the way in which staff, children and parents have pulled together in these uncertain times.
Amesbury really is the most amazing community.
