Classrooms across Little Amesbury are organised to allow children to explore and learn safely and securely. The classrooms cover all areas of learning where children are able to access equipment independently. Being able to work and flow freely outdoors, offers the children opportunities to explore and learn in different ways, whilst being physically active.
Continuous provision activities may include:
Sand, music, role play, small world play, water, mud kitchen, construction, paint, malleable materials, books/reading, exploratory play, performance, dance, ball skills, gardening, balancing, climbing, maths, number recognition, problem solving, listening, I-Pads, funky finger activities, collage, modelling, mark making and writing.
We provide adult led learning in all sessions and this is recorded either on Tapestry or in learning journals. All areas of the curriculum are covered and exciting continuous provision is set up around the indoor and outdoor classrooms. Children are able to explore and work independently, which enables them to think critically and become creative, independent learners. The children in the Reception classes have started to self-assess their work talking about the challenges they faced and their next steps.
We promote positive role models in both adults and children by having set routines and expectations. There are clear boundaries about behaviour and work, these are celebrated. We ensure that there are many opportunities for communication and language, enabling children to develop personally and socially, becoming confident members of Amesbury. The whole of Little Amesbury play in the reception outdoor area twice a day during ‘playtime’ and the children get to mix in the after school club. This allows the older children to play, teach, care for and nurture the younger children with them being good role models setting the expectations for the younger children.
