Year 5 were given the chance to test all their knowledge on everything Buddhist as they enjoyed a fantastic trip to the Buddhist Temple in Woking. The children were given a full tour of the Temple and able to ask all sorts of questions regarding specific rooms and routines throughout the day. This was before Year 5 had the opportunity to listen to a practicing monk and hear all the differing parts of his day to day life. A short video provided clarity on the core beliefs of Buddhism and how the Temple came to be located in Woking. This was all brought together by the monk delivering a wonderful period of meditation for the children. They were able to put their knowledge to the test and try to reach a perfect state of meditation. It is fair to say that some certainly achieved this as some were unable to resist the temptation of a short power nap!
The Temple showed great generosity to the children with some snacks before we had shoes on and were on our way back to Amesbury. Many thanks to all staff that accompanied Year 5 on the trip.
