On Thursday 28 March 2019 the U9 girls were invited to participate in a tournament at Longacre School with fifteen teams participating.
The weather was on our side as the sun was out and the girls were excited to try out their football skills against other schools. In the opening game all teams playing superbly with a joyful spring in their steps with all teams winning convincingly. As each game passed the girls grew into the competition, building in confidence, determination, and tactical noose. With quick-fire rounds, there was little time to rest and the girls managed themselves well, keeping momentum.
As tournament came to an end the girls had little idea of where they ranked. Pool B was announced first and to the shock of the Jaguars they took second place only to be beaten by their friends in the Lions, this left just one Amesbury side awaiting their results. Pool A was a competitive group and the side coming second were a strong side we had struggled against earlier but to the shock of all the girls in the Bears we were awarded first place.
It was a lovely moment for Amesbury School taking first place in both tournaments. We would like to thank Longacre for a lovely day and congratulate the girls for some brilliant football.
