Under 9B Girls’ Hockey v Cranleigh Prep

Won 1-0

Lady of the match: Sophie S

Player’s Player: Tamzi Y

The girls put in a fantastic performance today against Cranleigh prep. The match was very evenly matched with lots of great tackles and push passes seen from both teams. I was very impressed to see Sophie showing great hunger for the ball from the outset; she carried the ball confidently up the pitch and had some lovely chances on goal. Sophie was well supported in attack by Tamzi, Victoria and Claudia who also made some strong block tackles and applied great pressure to Cranleigh’s defence. Sophie was rewarded for her efforts with a great goal in the first half giving us the lead going into half time.

The second half saw Cranleigh coming back with some good breakthroughs. Luckily for us Lily, Merry and Francesca were ready to block Cranleigh’s advances with some successful block tackles and strong clearances and we kept the lead throughout the match.

Very well done girls!

U8A VII Hockey v Eagle House

The U8A VII took the astro turf on a gloriously sunny spring afternoon full on enthusiasm and eagerness for victory. They started well and were passing, moving and communicating brilliantly. Their excellent style of play led to them scoring two goals in the first half. The second half saw more brilliant play from all the Amesbury boys and by the end they were spending the majority of the time in or just outside the Eagle House ‘D’. The pressure proved too much for Eagle House and Amesbury managed to score another goal before the final whistle. A brilliant game and a well-deserved victory.

Score: 3-0

Under 8 A Girls Hockey
Amesbury v Brookham
Lady of the match: Annie and Jess
Players player: Libby
Score: 4-0

The Amesbury Under 8 A girls hockey team had a very strong win this week 4-0 congratulations! From the moment the match began the girls were strong in attack scoring goals from great teamwork and passing. The determination was very clear from all team members. The girls were working hard and clearing the ball brilliantly from defence, with their sticks down ready to tackle. The other great tactic the team displayed was the use of space across the pitch. The girls were hungry for the ball and once it was in their control they moved the ball well up the pitch passing the ball wide giving each other opportunities to score. Great game, really well done!

Under 8 B Girls Hockey
Amesbury v Brookham
Lady of the match: Elodie
Players player: Hebe, Abigail, Honor
Score: 0-0

Our Amesbury girls Under 8 B hockey team’s game this week was a terrific match, that saw every player contributing with determination and effort to achieve the nil all draw. The girls worked as a team never giving up, all focused for the whole game. We saw fantastic defence, sticks were down on the ground ready and each girl stepped up marking her player and then moving the ball forward through accurate passing! Great job girls you played with real commitment and great spirit you should all be very proud of yourselves.
