Amesbury started the new half term with fierce rivals Highfield to play. The boys went out to bat and knowing Highfield had a number of county players who showed their class picking up wickets quickly. A great innings from Jake keeping the scoreboard ticking over whilst guarding his wicket with great care and discernment. A strong tail end composed themselves and saw out all the overs against a dangerous bowling attack. Amesbury closed on 67-7. With the ball The boys were determined to bowl accurately forcing Highfield to play risky shots. This was executed by all involved with some outstanding bowling displays. Jack was the main wicket taker picking up a brace with two more unfortunately not given due to a no ball. In the field the boys made little errors and some sharp stops limiting Highfield to only two boundaries. In the 13th over we managed to get our sixth wicket (8 players per side), needing one to win with them needing 12 runs. In the 15th over Jack bowled a full toss straight into the middle stump, disallowed as a no ball. Gutted. Next ball they got the runs required. 68-5. Just lost unfortunately but the heart and grit shown was superb. Really impressed!
Many thanks,
