Amesbury 4th IX 49 for 2 lost Highfield 4th XI 51 for 1

Amesbury arrived at Highfield for a slightly later than normal start to cricket match. The 3.30pm start due to exams taking place this week, meant that the year 8’s were glad of the fresh air for a change! Amesbury were put into bat and birthday boy William decided to bat at number 2, his opening partner was James and they hung around for 6 overs before both retiring in order to allow others to bat. Runs were not easily scored off the bat and Mr Extra’s, due to Highfields in accurate bowling carried us to a score of 49. When we did hit the ball we were unable to score boundaries which restricted our target. Highfield then batted and their excellent opening batsman were given 5 overs to attack our target. They made significant headway and the next 2 batsman finished the run chase off with a 4. A solid effort by all boys. Well done.
