Creating safer environments

Pastoral

Amesbury is a member of the Anti-Bullying Alliance (ABA). The ABA is a coalition of organisations and individuals, working together to stop bullying and create safer environments in which children and young people can live, grow, play and learn.

The ABA welcomes membership from any organisation or individual that supports this vision and supports a network of thousands of schools.

The ABA has three main objectives. They are:

  • To raise the profile of bullying and the effect it has on the lives of children and young people
  • To create a climate in which everyone agrees that bullying is unacceptable
  • To make sure that teachers, youth practitioners, parents, carers, children and young people have the skills and knowledge to address bullying effectively.

The effects of bullying can be enormous for those involved. By uniting together, strengthening community friendships and making a stand against bullying Amesbury actively and collaboratively works to stop bullying and create safer environments in which children and young people can live, grow, play and learn.

All teachers at Amesbury complete on-line training provided by ABA. The organisation also provides excellent on-line training for parents. This training provides a common framework and language for pupils, teachers and parents, which is extremely helpful when discussing relational conflict and bullying. We therefore encourage you to go to the ABA website and complete the online anti-bullying training for parents:
