School News

Year 6 recently made their annual expeditions to the ‘torrents’ of the River Wey in Liphook, to undertake width, depth and velocity measurements, and to sketch the path of the river to later help analyse the data. The Geographic duo of Mr Gibb and Mr Whitby (ably assisted by Mr Tribe, Mrs Gibb and Mrs Lillywhite) escorted the budding river analysts.

All three groups took to the data collection with relative ease, ensuring they collaborated well and tried their very best to heed the mantra, ‘keep the tape measure tight!’ Highlights included many full (of river water) wellies, investigation of the rather muddy banks by some, emptying the full wellies as well as ensuring that many clipboards were re-coloured in a rather muddy brown.

A fabulous day with Year 6 working very hard outside of the classroom.

Martin Gibb, Head of Geography
